18 August 2019, Dubai (UAE): Honda Motor Co. (Africa and Middle East Office) launched the All New CR-V Hybrid for the Jordan market today. In a first for Honda in the region, the all-new Honda CR-V Hybrid will be available with advanced hybrid powertrain technology. The hybrid system uses intelligent Multi Mode Drive technology (i-MMD) combining two electric motors, an Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, lithium-ion battery and a fixed-gear transmission to deliver high levels of refinement, responsiveness and efficiency. There are two grades for Jordan, namely mid and top grade with two-wheel drive mode. The CR-V Hybrid will be available at our Jordan Distributor, namely Jordanian International Automobile Trading Company.
EXTERIOR STYLING:
The all-new Honda CR-V Hybrid retains the familiar silhouette, with an evolutionary design that is sophisticated and sporty. The CR-V has a unique exterior design, with broader wheel arches and sharper contours on the bonnet and rear quarters, as well as the latest Honda signature headlight graphic. Key design principles for the new CR-V were to create a modern and dynamic SUV that was also highly functional. Honda aimed for a refined and sophisticated proposition, with clean and contemporary styling that omits unnecessary lines.
At the front, a bold design integrates the latest Honda family ‘face’, including the solid wing graphic and signature headlight shape, with LED Daytime Running Lights and Headlights as standard. In the rear, the CR-V Hybrid also features distinct LED taillights and exciting wheel design for the18” inch alloy in both grades. The top grade also features a panoramic sunroof.
Other notable standard features include front and rear fog lights, front and rear corner parking sensors, power side mirrors with reverse gear tilt-down and turn indicators and Shark Fin-Type Roof-Mounted Antenna, various chrome garnishes and auto rain sensing wipers.
INTERIOR STYLING:
The CR-V Hybrid raises the bar for interior refinement and utility through its completely redesigned cockpit and innovative premium features. The more spacious cabin, with top-in-class interior space and the best rear seat legroom in its class, features upgraded materials throughout, including a new soft-touch instrument panel and more intricately stitched seats. Smooth and sophisticated wood-effect trim, applied to the door cards and lower section of the dashboard, provides a dash of natural colour in the cabin of the CR-V Hybrid.
The Honda CR-V Hybrid now features just one central touchscreen in addition to the 7-inch Driver Information Interface (DII) visible through the steering wheel. The DII includes a large digital speedometer and linear power gauge with a charge status indicator. Integrated into the lower half of the DII is a ‘content zone’, which the driver can scroll through to choose from a variety of information, including audio track information, smartphone contacts, and smart vehicle maintenance information. It also features a graphic of the current power flow, indicating the vehicles power source and if the battery is being charged, and an ‘ECO Guide’ to suggest more efficient driving techniques. Drivers can monitor their efficiency over time with a drive cycle score, earning points depicted by leaf icons in the display, increasing or decreasing as a different stage of fuel economy is achieved. It also features the Driver Attention Monitor, which is designed to detect driver fatigue and alert the driver when exhibiting diminished attention to the road with a series of visual and audio alerts.
New to the CR-V is the replacement of the conventional shift lever with a fully electronic, push button gear selector. Park, Neutral and Drive are selected with the push of a button. Reverse is selected by pulling back a dedicated switch. Indicator lights on or next to the buttons indicate the mode selected. As an added safety feature, if the vehicle is brought to a stop in Drive or Reverse, the system will automatically select Park if the driver’s seatbelt is unbuckled and the driver’s door is opened. A steering wheel-mounted paddle shifter system lets the driver take manual control of transmission gear selection.
Some of the key comfort and convenience features available on the New CR-V Hybrid include a smart entry and remote engine, start dual-zone climate controls in both grades, rear A/C ducts, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Brake Hold function, Rear Wide View Camera with Guidelines, front USB ports, rear 2.5A USB charging ports and manual height adjustment of the Driver and Passenger seats along with Power Lumbar only available in the Top Grade.

In a first for a Honda SUV in the region, the all-new Honda CR-V is available with advanced hybrid powertrain technology. The Honda Hybrid Performance system is enabled by Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) technology, comprising two electric motors, a power control unit, an Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, lithium-ion battery and an innovative fixed gear transmission delivering high levels of refinement, responsiveness and efficiency.
The CR-V Hybrid is equipped with an efficient 2.0-litre i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, with peak power of 143hp at 6,200 rpm with a torque of 175 N-M at 4000 rpm and a powerful 135 KW electric motor with torque of 315 N-m.
i-MMD TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED
Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) technology provides a responsive, smooth and efficient driving experience, seamlessly delivering optimum power by automatically switching between three driving modes: Electric Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive.
Honda Hybrid performance is the result of the clever combination of a powerful and efficient 2.0L petrol engine, with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. i-MMD’s advantage is that as well as using the petrol engine to generate electricity, it can harvest otherwise wasted energy to recharge the battery, meaning you’ll never have to plug your CR-V Hybrid into the mains.
There are three types of drive with the CR-V Hybrid:
CR-V Hybrid ENGINE and CHassis:
The All-New CR-V Hybrid’s chassis has evolved to provide more agile and confident handling, greater refinement and superior overall versatility. Increased front and rear track widths combined with front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension with specially tuned low-friction dampers and tubular front and solid rear stabilizer bars promote responsive turn-in and flatter cornering.
The All-New CR-V Hybrid features a new Electric Servo Brake System. The system maximizes braking efficiency and is capable of recovering more braking energy. Regeneration occurs anytime the throttle is released or brake pedal is depressed, ensuring the lithium-ion battery remains fully charged.
The CR-V Hybrid uses an Atkinson cycle 2.0L petrol engine. This type of engine can vary the compression ratio, and is particularly suited to Hybrid vehicles. During Hybrid mode, or during regeneration, the engine is not required to produce power to propel the CR-V. By reducing the compression ratio, the engine has less resistance, and can recover / produce more energy to the battery and generator, extending the EV drive mode.
Advanced SAFETY and Honda SensingTM:
The all-new CR-V Hybrid has been engineered to achieve industry-leading safety performance. In line with Honda’s ‘Safety for Everyone’ philosophy, the same passive and active safety systems are included across all grades of the new CR-V Hybrid.
As an integral part of the CR-V Hybrid structure, Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body-structure enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions by distributing crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.
Other passive safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control Systems (TCS), Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), Electronic Brake Distributor (EBD), Agile Handling Assist, Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS), Brake Over Ride System and Hill Start Assist (HSA).

Honda SENSINGTM is one of the most advanced safety technology suites available and is standard across the range.
COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM
If there is the possibility of a collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian, this feature will alert you to the danger as well as reducing your speed to help minimize the severity of any impact.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING
If momentarily distracted, a state-of-the-art warning system can alert the driver to a potentially dangerous situation ahead. The Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system, using both visual and audible warning, alerts the driver to a potential collision with a vehicle detected ahead.
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
If the car moves out of its lane without you activating the indicator, then alerts will flash and sound, to help bring your attention to correcting the lane drift.
ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION
A windscreen-mounted camera detects whether the car is veering off the road and uses the Electric Power Steering to apply subtle corrections to keep your vehicle in its lane. In certain conditions, it can also apply braking force.
LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM
Helps keep you in the middle of your lane, providing a less stressful driving experience by reducing the need for steering correction movements and driving effort on the motorway.
INTELLIGENT-ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
This feature detects if a vehicle driving in an adjacent lane intends to cut in front of you and adjusts the speed of your CR-V in advance. It also helps you maintain the distance between you and the car in front, so you don’t have to change your speed.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH LOW-SPEED FOLLOWING
This function maintains a set cruising speed and following distance relative to the vehicle in front of you. If the detected vehicle comes to a stop, the function will decelerate and stop your vehicle without you having to keep your foot on the brake. Once the car in front starts moving again simply tap the accelerator to resume the operation.
TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION SYSTEM
The Traffic Sign Recognition system identifies traffic signs and relays this information to you via a visual display. Two signs can be displayed at any one time
INTELLIGENT SPEED ASSIST
Cleverly combines the existing adjustable speed limiter function with the Traffic Sign Recognition system to automatically set the speed limit to that which the Traffic Sign Recognition system detects.
REAR CROSS TRAFFIC MONITOR (Top Grade Only)
When reversing, the Cross Traffic Monitor can detect approaching vehicles from either side and warns you of imminent danger.
BLIND SPOT INFORMATION SYSTEM (Top Grade Only)
The Blind Spot Information System uses radar sensors to automatically detect vehicles in the driver’s blind spot and alerts the driver via a warning symbol inside the car.
HIGH BEAM SUPPORT
Using the monocular camera from the Honda SensingTM, the system switches from high to low beam automatically when a white or red light source is detected ahead. This reduces driver fatigue and increases safety level.
